Meet Senior Corporate Trainer, Theron!

Theron Davis, one of Livewire Concepts' top account managers, was recently selected to travel to Chicago with the management team for a week of networking as well as sight-seeing and relaxation.  Theron has been with Livewire Concepts for a little less than 6 months but has quickly proven to be an invaluable member of the team and a consistent top performer.

Theron is a Kansas City native, and spent most of his childhood growing up in Blue Springs.  He attended Blue Springs High School where he played football, basketball, and was an active member of DECA.  After high school Theron attended the University of Missouri where he was a starter on the basketball team.  He later transferred to Missouri State and finished his undergrad education and the University of Missouri - Kansas City with a bachelors degrees in pre-law and arts & science.  A fun fact about Theron is that during his time playing collegiate basketball he set the record for 3-pointers in a single tournament at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO.

According to Theron, what initially interested him in pursuing a career with Livewire Concepts was the opportunity and work environment.  "What I have enjoyed the most so far is the experience and the education, as well as the opportunity to expand my team-building skills and leadership skills during my time at Livewire Concepts," said Theron.

We here at Livewire Concepts are very excited to have Theron as a member of our team, and can't wait to see what the future holds for him!

Livewire Concepts, Inc. to participate in Kansas City Race for the Cure!

Livewire Concepts, Inc. Will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Kansas City Race for the Cure August 12, 2012.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Kansas City began with a Race for the Cure® event in 1994 organized by three inexperienced, headstrong women who relocated to Kansas City from Washington, DC who had “can do” attitudes. In those days, a small core of committed women kept files in their homes and cars, had all Race phone calls on an answering machine in a spare bedroom and treated Komen as their second job. It was truly a grassroots effort.

The need for management grew increasingly evident over the years. Thus, the first Board was formed and an office was generously donated in 1999. Today, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Kansas City serves 10 counties in Kansas and 7 counties in Missouri and has a full-time staff of seven while continuing to have nearly 200 active volunteers serving on committees.

With the help of passionate volunteers, a dedicated board and staff members, Komen Kansas City has raised more than $8 million to support breast cancer education, screening and treatment.

In 2011, nearly 25,000 people marked the 18th anniversary of Komen Kansas City and its signature event, the Susan G. Komen Kansas City Race for the Cure®.

Livewire Concepts goal is to raise $2000 to aid in breast cancer research, screening and awareness. If you are interested in getting involved, click on the link below.

Meet our Operations Manager, Becky!

Becky Wright is from Tallahassee, FL and calls herself a “Tallahassee lassie.”  Becky and her siblings were raised by her mom single handed and that is who inspired her to be a woman in charge!  She had the opportunity to develop a strong work ethic at a young age by taking on her first job helping her brother-in-law’s small business at the age of fourteen.  Becky graduated from Leon High School in 2005 where she was an enthusiastic cheerleader in the fall and an aggressive soccer player in the spring.  “I have always loved being a part of competitive team sports; maybe I cheered so I could have better seats at the ball games!”

After high school Becky attended Florida State University and received her BA in Psychology.  During college she worked for the State of Florida as a Data Entry specialist and realized that “a comfortable job and salary as well as being stuffed in a cubical was not the life for me.”  Becky’s hobbies have always been seeing live entertainment, so she started pursuing the music industry by working for a variety of music festivals.  In 2009 she moved to Atlanta, GA to intern with a promotional marketing company for music festivals, venues, and artists.  “The economy was not very kind to the industry as it is a luxury, and I saw that my hard work was not getting compensated.  It was time for an all-around career change.”   Becky then started an entry-level position at a sales and marketing firm in Atlanta.  “I had zero sales experience, but trusted my trainers and coaches to teach me sales.  I knew that with my strong work ethic I would achieve my goals and I was quickly promoted to account manager!”  Less than a year later, she had the opportunity to transfer and help her colleague Cj Suggs new office in the Kansas City, MO area.  Becky has worked for Livewire Concepts, Inc. since February, 2011, and was promoted to assistant manager in January, 2012.

Meet our president!

C.J. Suggs grew up in the small town of Madison, Georgia, which is approximately an hour east of Atlanta.  He grew up playing several sports, but his main passion was always music.  He doesn't like to admit it, but he was in marching band (not that there is anything wrong with that), though when confronted there is a good chance he probably won't admit to it.  "In Madison everybody graduates from high school, goes to college, than eventually comes back  to Madison to work until retirement," C.J. recalls.  "I never wanted that to be me.  I knew that small-life just wasn't something I was cut out for."

After high school C.J. attended the University of Georgia, where he dabbled in several different areas of study.  "I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, all I knew is that I wanted to do something that interested me, and I would worry about employment when I got there", say C.J.  "I ended up majoring in geography because I have always been fascinated with the world around me, but growing up in a small-town with working class parents, I was never able to see or experience it first hand so I figured this was the next best thing  He graduated in 2008 with a BA in geography and with no marketable skills except for waiting tables and bar-tending.  "After graduation I started applying for sales jobs in Atlanta, and  landed an entry-level position with a marketing firm.  I was super excited that I had found a job, while at the same time incredibly apprehensive because I had zero experience in sales.  Luckily I had a great trainer and coaches and was soon one of the top reps in the company."  Two years and several promotions later, C.J. realized that the he had progressed as far as he could in the company, and the only way he was going to achieve the goals he set for himself was to leave Atlanta and make a go at it on his own.

In February of 2011 he moved to Kansas City and opened up his own marketing firm, Livewire Concepts, Inc.  "I always liked the idea of working for myself, but never really considered it a possibility until my manager in Atlanta showed me how a successful company and organization is run.  It was kind of crazy that I went from being her employee to her actually encouraging and helping me open my own business.   It was my time in Atlanta that I learned what I believe are the 4 essential characteristics that can make anybody successful in business or life in general for that mater: people skills, work ethic, integrity, and a strong student mentality.  If you take care of your customers and clients,  success is sure to follow.  Since opening our doors a little over a year ago, we have used these principles to triple in size and are already planning to open another office in August," says Suggs.

"A lot of people have asked me, whether in college, while  I was job-hunting as a recent college grad, or more recently when someone I meet is curious about what it's like to be an entrepreneur, where do I see myself in 5 years?  I could share with them my goals, which most people would find ridiculous and unobtainable, but I've found that it's a lot more fun to simply reply, I'm not really sure, but I know it's going to be one hell of a ride!"

Meet our new Human Resources Manager!

Jenna Moore is from St. Louis, MO where she attended McCluer North High School and was part of the tennis team.  She moved to the Kansas City area for college.  She attended Avila University where she studied Middle School Education and Music.  At Avila she was involved with school musicals, intramural sports, cheerleading, and filming for the football team.  Jenna has worked in multiple facets of administration including public safety and student services, supervising the acquisition of university scholarship funds, managing client information for a wealth management company, and is now the newest addition to the management team at Livewire Concepts, Inc.
"Livewire has given me the opportunity to expand my personal and professional goals in a field that previously stunted my professional goals. Our company's desire to see our clients' needs met as well as our employees succeed is something that is difficult to find at most companies.  This is not just a job, this is a career where I can develop into the person I am meant to be!"

So 2000 and late...

Well folks, the time has finally come for our company to start doing what most of you have already been doing for the better part of the last decade...BLOGGING!  We're putting on our thick-framed hipster glasses and flannel T-shirts and are running to catch up to the revolution.  As you're reading this, however, blogging is probably already as irrelevant as "tebowing" and "planking" and we promise to find some other medium to get our points and ideas out there if that is the case.

Check back regularly for updates about our company, employee spotlights, and things that we generally find amusing or of interest to the general public!

P.S. - if you rearrange the letters in "blogging" you get "boggling"...we're not sure about the relevance of that but stay tuned...
